Life in the Trenches...

It has been a while since my last post. So much is new. I've gotten my first teaching job, and in a dream location. All of my colleagues, administrators, families, and students, are so warm and supportive and eager to learn. I keep asking myself,

How did I get so lucky?

And the answer seems to be that I have to live up to the luck I've been afforded. In other words, I didn't rest on my laurels for even a day! The work load is more intense than I could've imagined, and it is always changing depending on what the current situation is. For example, the high school had to dismiss the student body at 11:00am out of an abundance of caution. A student found out they tested positive and everyone was sent home, and now we will not be in the building again until Wednesday. Mind you, we have a hybrid situation, so the person who was in the building today has never even seen the people from Monday and Tuesday, but again, better to be over-careful.

I go back to earning my job-- this next week, I'm going to have a time organizing and attempting to instruct all of my students. Wish me luck!
